Privacy Notice

Throughout your journey with Bridgend College, we will collect, process, store and manage data relating to personal information, medical/health status, additional learning needs, educational and employment history. We will also invest an interest in data related to your progress, attendance, success, wellbeing and safeguarding for any course(s) you are enrolling on.

You are giving explicit consent for this data to be collected about you and stored in the College system. The data held will be used for funding, statistical, administrative and equality monitoring purposes. Bridgend College will only keep your information for as long as is needed, and erase it accordingly in line with the retention schedule.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation 2018, you have the right to a copy of the information held about you, and the right to request deletion of this information at any point when studies have ceased at Bridgend College.

The personal and educational information collected about you is used for a variety of internal purposes within Bridgend College, and also by the following third party organisations/funding bodies:

  • Employers (If your studies are sponsored by your Employer)
  • Training Providers (If your studies are in conjunction with a work-based learning training provider)
  • University of Wales/Cardiff Metropolitan University (if your studies are in conjunction with a University partnership)
  • Your home local authority for the purposes safeguarding, social services and/or additional learning support (ALN)

Bridgend College will not pass on your information to another third party without first obtaining your consent, unless this is a best interest decision based on a safeguarding concern or criminal proceeding.

By consenting to this privacy notice you are giving Bridgend College permission to:

  • Share your personal data with the third parties identified above.
  • Use your contact information for marketing purposes for current/future college interests
  • Contact your parent/guardian regarding your studies and attendance (for students below the age of 18).

As a Bridgend College student you have the right to make a formal complaint relating to any possible data breaches or any objections you may have with the content of this privacy notice.
