New digital innovation space launched at Bridgend College

February 11th 2020 marked the official launch of DEN01, a dedicated innovation space at Bridgend College, aimed at providing training, workshops and taster sessions on all things technology.

The concept involves inclusive engagement for all and incorporates the needs of students, staff and the wider community. DEN01 offers a number of roadshows and taster sessions to primary schools, secondary schools and other organisations, as well as providing development opportunities for staff at the College. This has previously included digital accreditation for all staff using GSuite and delivered in collaboration with Aspire2Be. The team at DEN01 is comprised of Bridgend College academic staff who have a particular interest in technology and blended learning.

The Mayor of Bridgend, Councillor Stuart Baldwin, was present at the launch, as well as Councillor Huw David of Bridgend County Borough Council and many industry professionals.

Deputy Principal, Viv Buckley, officially launched the space:

“DEN01 needs to be a space where people can play, learn and try new things and our job is to equip young people for the ever changing digital world; young people who need 21st century kit, facilities and skills.

Bridgend College would like to thank Aspire2Be for sponsoring the event and Welsh Government for funding support of this new and exciting digital space.
