Learner of the Year wins prestigious art prize

Bridgend College learner, Tomas Roberts, has recently been selected to showcase his artwork at the AART 2018 exhibition which will be taking place at the Senedd from 9th to 13th April 2018.

The exhibition is run as part of the Autism Directory’s initiative to encourage young people with autism to express themselves in the form of art.

Tomas began his journey at Weston House, our specialist residential provision for learners with additional needs. Tomas came from Heronsbridge – a Special School in Bridgend, and studied a Level 1 Work Skills course in the ‘Independent Living Skills’ provision.

He has since successfully completed mainstream BTEC Levels 2 & 3 Interactive Media at the College and also undertook work experience with “Turnip Starfish”, a media design company based in Cardiff. Tom is now studying the Foundation Degree Graphic Communication at Bridgend College.

We are extremely proud of Tomas and his achievements and look forward to seeing his artwork on display at the Senedd in Cardiff later this month.
