FREE breakfast for every student
From the beginning of the September 2019 term, all students at our Bridgend, Pencoed and Queen’s Road campuses are entitled to a free breakfast at the College. Tea, coffee and toast, including a gluten free option, are available in the refectories from 8am – 9:30am from Monday to Friday.
The scheme was piloted at the end of the summer term and has proven extremely successful with both our new and returning students. In addition to our free breakfast scheme, a selection of hot breakfasts and pastries can also be purchased at the coffee shops and canteens at each campus.
Bridgend College is wholly committed to reducing its impact on the environment on a local and global level and ensuring that sustainability remains an integral and fundamental part of the College’s strategy for success.
As part of our pledge to reduce single use plastic, we’ve also had brand new hydration stations installed around our campuses. New students who enrolled with us at the beginning of September each received a welcome pack, which included branded Bridgend College water bottles, made from BPA-free Eastman Tritan™ Material. Nearly a week since the stations were installed on Friday 30th August, staff and students at the College have helped eliminate over 1,000 single use plastic bottles from entering landfills and oceans across our Bridgend and Pencoed campuses!
In addition, canteen staff at our Bridgend Campus donate surplus sandwiches to the Bridgend Food Bank, often twice a week, helping the local people of Bridgend who are in crisis.
Bridgend College was the first College in Wales to sign the international Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). By signing the Accord we have made an extraordinary commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as part of the way we do business and operate as an organisation.
