Fantastic results in Estyn report
We are proud to announce that our onsite childcare setting, Bridgend College Day Nursery and Playscheme, has recently passed its inspection by Estyn with flying colours!
With six fantastic judgements of ‘Good’ in areas such as wellbeing, care and development, and environment, we’re delighted with the outcome, which is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our nursery staff.
Established in 1992 and inspected by Estyn and the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), Bridgend College Day Nursery and Playscheme prides itself on providing excellent care. The Day Nursery provides a warm, happy and stimulating environment for children. This gives parents the reassurance that their child is in a positive environment which supports their learning and development.
Children participate in a range of activities that promote wellbeing, communication and help develop confidence. Activities include messy play, forest school and access to qualified external guests who provide a breadth of opportunities for children.
Children are provided with healthy meal and snack choices, as part of the commitment to the Welsh Government Healthy and Sustainable Pre-school Scheme.
The Nursery was revamped in February this year, with the decor updated to create a calm and homely environment. Nursery staff have done a lot of work around independence across all age groups by introducing open shelving, allowing children to make choices and enhance their curiosity. Parents are now able to take a virtual tour of the Nursery before requesting a visit.
In Estyn’s recent report, the inspector commented by saying,
“They [children] walk happily into their play rooms and choose from the range of familiar activities positively showing that they feel safe and happy within the setting. They settle quickly and show enthusiasm and enjoyment both in their play and learning.”
“With the support of practitioners, the Manager strives to provide a welcoming, safe, caring and stimulating environment for the children and one in which they can develop their social, emotional and educational potential.”
The Nursery works towards the College’s mission statement of being “all that you can be”, which applies to both children and staff at the nursery.
The Nursery is open 7am – 6pm Monday to Friday for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
