Update on wearing face coverings

From Monday 31st January, we will be changing the requirements regarding wearing face coverings.

When in college, you will still need to wear a face covering in all communal areas (e.g. the canteen and Success Centres) and when moving between classes, but you will no longer have to wear one in your classroom. The simple way to remember what we all need to do is:

  • Standing up → wear a face covering
  • Sitting down → you can remove your face covering (if you would like to)

The rules for buses have not changed, and so, if you are using a College bus, you must wear a face covering when travelling.

If you have lessons in specialist workshops, you will carry on observing the same safety procedures as you have been.

Exemptions

If you are exempt from wearing a face covering, you must wear one of our face covering exemption cards on your lanyard – this helps us and others to be respectful of your exemption. If you need to submit an exemption request, you can do so by completing the form on our website.

Routine testing

Lateral flow devices are readily available at each campus reception. Welsh Government currently recommends testing twice a week. You must report your results, irrespective of the outcome, using the instructions contained within the testing pack.

Reporting symptoms or a positive test result

If you have any coronavirus symptoms, are awaiting a PCR test result or test positive for the virus (via a PCR test or Lateral Flow Device), it is important that you let us know as soon as possible by completing the notification form on our website.

We will continue to update you via email with any changes to guidance and expectations, and will also post updates via our official social media channels.

Thank you for helping to keep the Bridgend College community safe.
