Workskills Enterprise

  • Based on individual outcomes

  • 1 year full-time

Our courses will help develop your personal and social skills and gain confidence to become more independent. Future job roles include working as a volunteer or in supported or unsupported employment such as kitchen / cafe assistant, pet shop / garden assistant or porter.

You will be taught in small groups by a dedicated team of highly experienced staff. Our Specialist Support department offers help and support to you if you have an additional need or a disability such as sight loss, dyslexia or hearing loss.

This programme provides an immersive real-life working environment, enabling students with additional learning needs (ALN) to develop core skills in a highly inclusive and supported workplace.

Students will benefit from the familiarity and safety of being on campus, whilst working within a fully functioning hospitality and retail enterprise.

This is a full-time work-related programme which focuses on developing independence and skills for work and life. Through personalised outcomes, students will build and develop core skills including;

  • Confidence
  • Communication
  • Team working
  • Dealing with customers
  • Workplace standards and expectations
  • Time management and dealing with requests and priorities

This programme is based fully within a real working hospitality and retail enterprise, with all skills and learning taking place within the workplace.

This person-centred programme is non-accredited so there are no formal assessments.

Using trained systematic instruction (TSI), our team will work with students to develop their skills and abilities in a range of tasks to industry standard. Through a layered approach to task completion and activities, each student will gradually develop the skills needed to fulfill a hospitality / retail role.

There are no formal entry requirements.

You will need to attend an interview and demonstrate that you are fully committed to developing the skills needed to work in the hospitality / retail industry.

This programme aims to prepare young people for progression onto meaningful paid employment.

A progression step from this programme might also be onto our Supported Internship programme, based with a large employer within the Bridgend County Borough.

Enrolment fee: £40
