About

This course is suitable if you are a school leaver or young person with learning difficulties, who needs to develop your skills and confidence in a supported setting. Successful completion of the course should enable you to demonstrate that you have the personal skills, qualities and attitudes needed by employers or tutors, enabling you to progress to the next level.

Overview & Modules

You will undertake two vocational days which incorporate use of the community and facilitates the development of employability and team skills. You will also complete one week of work placement in a suitable setting.

Modules include:

  • Preparing for work placement
  • Money skills
  • Planning an Enterprise activity
  • Investigating rights and responsibilities at work
  • Job search skills
  • Communication skills
  • Numeracy
  • ICT

You will also develop a number of skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills throughout the course.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed in a variety of ways which could include assignments, external examinations, case studies and continual class assessment.

Entry requirements

This programme is offered to school leavers and young adults with mild to moderate learning difficulties. Places on the course are allocated subject to receiving suitable references from a previous educational establishment and attending an interview. As demand for places is high, we arrange a ‘transition session’ to ensure we have the right course for the right individual.

Continue your studies

Progress to further learning within vocational areas, and to voluntary work or employment.
