About

This course is for those who work or wish to work as Wood Machinists. It allows you to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression within the area of Wood Machining.

Overview & Modules

The course covers the setting and operating of machines for the following activities:

  • Sawing
  • Planing
  • Jointing
  • Profiling

How will I be assessed?

Continual assessment on the following units:

  • Unit 131 – Principles of machine manufactured joinery
  • Unit 201 – Health, safety and welfare in construction
  • Unit 262 – Setting and operating fixed sawing machines
  • Unit 263 – Setting and operating fixed planing machines
  • Unit 264 – Setting and operating fixed jointing machines
  • Unit 265 – Setting and operating fixed profiling machines

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at grade D or above (equivalent qualifications are accepted including a Pass at Level 1)

Continue your studies

Progress to either the Level 3 Diploma or NVQ 2 Wood Machining.
