1.48 million people currently work in the social care sector. As people are living longer and older people are needing more care, social care is growing and the sector needs at least another half a million jobs and staff by 2030.

Overview and modules
This course is for those wishing to study a health and social care pathway and is designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of the health and social care sector.
Topics may include:
- Service provision and roles
- Health and safety
- Protection and safeguarding adults and children
- Awareness of inclusion and disability
- Human growth and development
- Physical care of babies and young children
- Importance of leisure and social activities
- Promoting healthy eating
You will also develop a number of skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills throughout the course.
Assessment methods
You will be assessed in a variety of ways which could include assignments, case studies and continual class assessment.

- There are no formal entry requirements. However, you must be enthusiastic and motivated to learn

Progress to a Level 2 course in Health and Social Care.
