Have you thought about a career in the police, armed forces, ambulance, fire or rescue services? Public services is a huge employment source with more than 5.4 million people working in the public sector across the UK.

Our courses will help you develop the personal qualities which the public services require. Communication and personal responsibility are key attributes for any career in the uniformed professions.

This course will prepare you for the environment of the Emergency, Uniformed and Public Services. This course is equivalent to 3 A-Levels with the majority of the time classroom-based. However, practical learning is employed where possible in order to enrich and vary the learning experience. Some units are based on outdoor skills and require a positive attitude to new and often challenging environments.
Guest speakers are invited to give an up-to-date, relevant and stimulating insight into the work of uniformed careers.
You will have the opportunity to go on trips to further enrich your experience. Past visits have included Normandy, North Wales and many overnight outdoor experiences.

Modules may include:

  • Understanding discipline leadership and teamwork in Protective Services
  • Introduction to criminology
  • Principles of managing security threats
  • Citizenship, diversity and the Protective Services
  • Government and the Protective Services
  • Planning and responding to emergency incidents
  • Physical preparation, health and lifestyle for the Protective Services
  • Land and water expedition skills
  • Professional development in the Uniformed Protective Services
