You don’t have to be a top athlete or a one in a million who makes a professional team to get a job in sports. You can qualify as a sports coach, physiotherapist, personal trainer, nutritionist, a sports teacher and much more within this huge industry. We have industry experienced tutors in the sports department at Bridgend College along with state of the art facilities that create an innovative and vibrant learning environment.
Our Pencoed Campus facilities include a sports hall with a climbing wall, rugby and football pitches, a 3G pitch, strength and conditioning gym and fitness suite. You will be supported by a team of highly qualified staff who many have played to a professional level at their chosen sport.
Overview and modules
You will develop a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for career development in sport specific employment.
You will be taught through the medium of sport in a variety of environments exploring various teaching and learning methods. You will take part in both practical and theoretical sessions.

You will also develop a number of skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills throughout the course, as well as studying for the Welsh Baccalaureate.
The awarding body for this qualification is OCR.
Assessment methods
You will be assessed in a variety of different ways including practical observations, group tasks, video evidence, written assessments, presentations, case studies, work experience and external assessments.
Entry requirements
Note, for opportunities to play in the Football or Rugby Academy, you will be required to attend a trial and pre-season training.
Continue your studies
If you successfully complete this Level 2 course, you will be eligible to apply for progression onto the Level 3 programmes in Sports Development & Coaching or Uniformed Public Services.

This campus is home to an extensive range of subject areas: Land-based, Construction, Sport and Public Services along with our brand new state-of-the-art STEAM Academy for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths.
The campus has great facilities such as a 3G sports pitch, modern equine areas, sports hall and conditioning gym. Located on the outskirts of the village of Pencoed, this campus also offers local amenities and transport links within easy reach.
