This Level 1 course is designed for those with no prior knowledge of the sport-related vocational sector. The course has a work-related focus which covers some of the underpinning knowledge and practical skills needed to prepare for a career in the sport industry.

Overview & Modules
The course offers an engaging programme for those who are clear about the vocational area they wish to learn more about. You will develop a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for career development in sport specific employment, all of which are taught through the medium of sport involving both practical and theoretical experiences.
Units may include:
- Managing your health at work
- Taking part in sport
- Assisting at a sport or active leisure event
- Taking part in exercise and fitness activities
- How the body works
- Planning own fitness programme
- Assisting a leader of sports or active leisure activities to plan and deliver an activity
- Working in sport and active leisure
- Physical activities for children
- Exploring dance skills
How will I be assessed?
Types of assessment are varied and could include practical observations, group tasks, video evidence, written assessments, presentations, case studies, work experience and external assessments.

- You will need to attend an interview
Note, for opportunities to play in the Football or Rugby Academy, you will be required to attend a trial and pre-season training.
Continue your studies
Progression onto the Level 2 Sport or Public Services course, on successful completion of the programme.
Possible progression straight to Level 3, dependant on grade achieved at Level 1.
