The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a recognised qualification which aims to prepare you for study at degree level. If you’d like to go to university or change career direction, but have no previous qualifications, an Access to HE course can provide you with the subject knowledge along with techniques to help you back into studying.
You will learn a variety of aspects of social work and social care, as well as developing skills needed for progression to a degree in social work, counselling or related areas.
Overview and modules
Modules may include:
- Social work
- Social policy
- Sociology
- Psychology
- Health studies
- Communication / study skills
- Counselling
Throughout the course you will also develop a number of skills including numeracy and literacy skills.
Assessment methods
You will be assessed through assignments or projects including formal presentations. There are no formal exams, but you will have time-constrained tests and class-based activities.
Entry requirements
- Level 2 qualification
- Applicants should ideally have valid life / work experience
- You will complete a written exercise to establish support needs
