Shelley has a range of professional experience, most recently appointed as the Principal Accountant for Audit Wales in February 2019, having previously worked for South Wales Police. She first started with the police in 2007 as an accountant within the Management Accounts section, before becoming the Project and Systems Accountant in 2016. A keen interest in systems development and implementation, Shelley was part of a collaboration with Gwent Police to develop an ERP system, bringing the two forces on to a shared services platform. Shelley has worked for over 20 years in accountancy and has experience working for a not-for-profit organisation and for both public and private sectors. Shelley is the representative for Audit Wales on the Welsh Government Sponsored Bodies Finance Officer Group and was Co-Opted as a member of the Audit Committee for Bridgend College earlier this year.

Qualifying in 2018, Shelley is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She has a BA in English and Education and has recently started studying with the Institute of Leadership and Management. Shelley has a thirst for learning and is committed to continually improving to keep at the forefront of her areas of specialism.

Shelley likes to make use of her spare time by going to the gym, enjoying her garden, and is a dedicated mother of two boys, taking an active role in their education and watching them playing rugby for their clubs on a Sunday morning.
