RHS Practical Horticulture Level 3

  • 30 weeks, Tuesday 5.30 pm – 8.30 pm

This course is highly recognised by employers and is a suitable qualification for entry into employment or for further study.

Note, the first 7 weeks of the course will be done remotely on-line using Google Meets (you will require a Gmail email address to access the sessions). The remaining 23 weeks will be delivered face-to-face using social distancing. As Welsh Government Guidelines change, the way the course is delivered may also change. However we will keep you up-to-date throughout the course.

Mandatory modules:

  • Collecting and testing soil samples and specifying adjustments for horticulture
  • Collecting, preparing and propagating from seed
  • Establishing and maintaining a range of plant types and forms
  • Identifying a range of common garden plants, weeds, pests, diseases and disorders

Optional modules:

  • Planning, collecting, preparing and establishing propagation material
  • Managing green spaces, landscaped areas and ornamental gardens

Assessment is through a range of set practical activities.

Evidence of a Level 2 qualification in Horticulture or relevant subject area.

This is an ideal qualification to support career development including supervisory and managerial roles.
