Performing and Production Arts

  • Level 2 Diploma

  • 1 year full-time

This Level 2 Foundation course gives you a fantastic grounding in all the important skills that you need to proceed onto the Level 3 courses in Performing or Production Arts.

As a performer, you will look at the 3 main elements which are important in the world of Performance: singing, acting and dance.

In singing, you will look at vocal health, learn how to develop a solo sound and learn to work as a vocal ensemble member. Acting will see you study the different practitioners and use their techniques to develop your skills to present a full and rounded character. The dance element will allow you to develop your fitness, learn basic techniques in all of the main dance styles, as well as helping you to develop coordination, teamwork, and discipline.

What happens backstage is vital to every performance. On the course, you will get the opportunity to explore the varied and exciting range of production arts roles and skills including puppetry, props, set design, costume design, stage management, sound and lighting. You will study within our vibrant Performing Arts Department which has industry standard facilities, workshops and its own theatre.

As a member of the Level 2 course, you will benefit from guest workshops with industry professionals who will give you insights into the actual profession, as well as helping you to understand the rigours needed to develop and know a west end routine.

You will be involved in all aspects of the production – from making props, calling cues, developing dance elements to finally acting in the final performance. Designed to improve your confidence and skills, this course will get you ready for any path that you wish to take.
