Through this course you will have the opportunity to develop your supported living skills. You will take part in classroom-based and practical activities which focus on being healthy, keeping safe and looking after your home. The sessions are a mix of classroom-based activities, practical tasks and off-campus visits.

This course is free to attend and is suitable for people who have Additional Learning Needs.
Sessions are a mix of classroom-based activities and practical tasks.
Planned session day and times may be subject to change but are likely to be: Thursday morning session is 9.15 am – 12.15 pm. The course lasts for 30 weeks and aims to take a maximum of 10 learners.
Assessment methods
The accredited units are a mix of classroom based activities, practical tasks and off site visits.
You will be taught by qualified tutors and support staff who are employed by Bridgend College and who have undergone an Enhanced DBS check.
You will be observed whilst doing fun activities and assessed on how well you can demonstrate and perform physical skills in a range of set tasks.
You will be asked to provide photographic and written evidence and supported to put together a portfolio of your work.
You are able to access general learning support with a designated classroom support worker provided by the College. However, in line with safeguarding guidelines, if you require 1-to-1 support, you will need to make your own arrangements to be supported by someone who has a current Enhanced DBS check in place; which covers both Child and Adult Workforce.
Entry requirements
You will need to attend an interview with the course tutor and demonstrate:
- A genuine interest in the subject
- A willingness and ability to participate in a range of practical activities
- A commitment to working hard and giving 100% effort
- That you have suitable transport arrangements in place to enable you to travel to the college campus in Maesteg
- Agree to attend regularly and be on time for a full day of college activities
Continue your studies
When you have successfully completed the course, you will gain Agored Cymru unit accreditation at Entry Level. You will also have the opportunity to further develop your skills by doing other Pathways courses within different vocational areas.

Our campus at Maesteg is located on Castle Street, in the heart of Maesteg’s town centre. Part-time courses include GCSE Maths and English Language, Essential Skills, Pathways and Welsh for Adults.
