Overview & Modules
This course is free to attend and is suitable for people who have Additional Learning Needs.
Session times: Wednesday morning session is 10.00am – 12.00pm. You will be required to take part in volunteering activities or undertake a work placement during the afternoon session. The course lasts for 30 weeks and aims to take a maximum of 10 learners.
How will I be assessed?
The accredited units are mostly practically based with a mixture of classroom and practical work skills-based teaching and assessment.
You will be taught by qualified tutors and support staff who are employed by Bridgend College and who have undergone an Enhanced DBS check.
You will be observed whilst doing fun activities and assessed on how well you can demonstrate and perform physical skills in a range of set tasks.
You will be asked to provide photographic and written evidence and supported to put together a portfolio of your work.
You are able to access general learning support with a designated classroom support worker provided by the College. However, in line with safeguarding guidelines, if you require 1-to-1 support, you will need to make your own arrangements to be supported by someone who has a current Enhanced DBS check in place; which covers both Child and Adult Workforce.
Entry requirements
You will need to attend an interview with the course tutor and demonstrate:
- A genuine interest and commitment to completing a work placement / volunteering activities
- A willingness and ability to participate in a range of practical activities
- A commitment to working hard and giving 100% effort
- That you have suitable transport arrangements in place to enable you to travel to the College Campus in Bridgend for the morning session, and to your designated work placement for the afternoon session
- Agree to attend regularly and be on time for a full day of college activities
Continue your studies
