This one-year course will suit anyone aspiring to study at level 3 who is yet to attain the 5 GCSEs at grade A-C needed to meet the entry requirements of a level 3 course.

The course is designed to help you develop your skills whilst studying 5 GCSEs, allowing you to meet the entry requirements of your chosen level 3 programme of study. The 5 GCSEs will include:

  • English Language
  • English Literature
  • Maths
  • Media Studies
  • Sociology

These 5 GCSEs will allow you to improve your written and verbal communication skills, as well as numerical skills. The course will also develop your understanding of key issues and questions about the media, also providing you with an understanding and critical awareness of the social world around us.

Assessment methods may vary by subject, however, methods will include:

  • Non Examination Assessment
  • Group Discussion
  • Presentation
  • Examination
  • You will need to provide evidence of your previous GCSE results
  • You will have an informal discussion to discuss your eligibility for the course and your previous GCSE experience
  • Learners without GCSE qualifications may be accepted, based on these discussions, at the discretion of the course tutor

Achieving a C grade at GCSE will allow you to progress to Level 3 study.
