  • 2 days training plus 1 day assessment

This standard is about carrying out arboricultural pruning operations off ground in trees, carrying out reductions, crown-lifting, re-pollarding, thinning and crown cleaning. You will need to carry out a tree hazard evaluation and perform a ‘working at height’ assessment before starting this work.

Access to the tree will be by recognised appropriate methods and in line with the above assessments. You will select suitable pruning tools relevant to the work to be carried out.

Your work must meet the requirements of current legislation and current industry guidance. This standard is for those who prune trees off ground.

* We support Welsh businesses within the Trees and Timber sector via the Focus on Forestry funding scheme aimed to support skills development. Please enquire for further information.

1 practical day with an external examiner at Pencoed Campus or an integrated assessment.

Candidates must be aged 16 or above.

Due to elements of this course being in a woodland area, candidates require their own transport or alternatively must notify the centre before the course so alternative options can be sourced.

Candidates should also be aware that this course is physical in nature.

Enhance your skill set with:

  • CS38 Climb trees and perform aerial rescue
  • CS39 Aerial cutting of trees using free fall techniques
  • CS41 Aerial tree rigging
