Level 2 Diploma

Our music qualifications are designed to provide relevant education in contemporary music, aimed at beginners through to semi-professionals.
If you would like to start your career in Music Performance or Music Production and gain confidence with your instrument, then this is the course for you. The program is designed to develop skills and confidence with music through a range of disciplines.
Follow in the footsteps of former Bridgend College learners: musician Michael Padge (Bullet For My Valentine), songwriter Corey Sanders (Calum Scott, Katy Perry), and record producer Jim Anderson (The Enemy, The View).
RSL has previously had Ed Sheeran, Rita Ora, and Jess Glynne study the vocational route at other UK institutions.
Overview and modules
Throughout the year, you will have workshops by songwriters and music producers, as well as music trips to support your education.
Our Level 2 provision is an excellent way to build confidence with your chosen instrument.

All these skills are essential for you to develop in the music industry. Our aim is to help you gain the essential skills to progress onto the next level and become a more accomplished musician.
You will also develop a number of skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills throughout the course.
The awarding body for this qualification is RSL.
Assessment methods
In the first two weeks of September, all students are assessed on performance, music theory and academic writing to determine which level they will be on.

Entry requirements
3 GCSEs at grade D or above. Equivalent qualifications are accepted, including a Pass at Level 1.
Continue your studies
On successful completion, progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma.
