You will explore a lot of different techniques and develop your knowledge of the creative industries over the year. What we look for in a student is for you to want to learn and develop skills through exploring your potential. During your time on the mixed media course, you can expect to learn about a range of media, and explore your work through drawing, model making, graphic design, photography, film and media. Mixed media is a great start to your creative journey for those interested in film, photography and digital arts.
You will study in dedicated studios and multimedia suites, gaining practical experience of using a wide range of materials and techniques. You will study the foundation skills of art and design, such as exploring formal elements and generating observational drawings. The course aims to develop your contextual knowledge in order to enable you to appreciate the work of other artists and to find your own influences and styles.

You will gain practical skills and theoretical knowledge of a variety of disciplines and learn about subject materials, techniques and processes via realistic assignment briefs and live projects.

Assessment methods
You will be assessed in a variety of ways, which could include assignments, presentations along with continual class assessment.
Entry requirements
3 GCSEs at grade D or above. Equivalent qualifications are accepted, including a Pass at Level 1.
Continue your studies
This course provides the opportunity for you to progress onto our Level 3 photography and digital arts courses, to an apprenticeship or employment.
