Overview & Modules
This course has been designed to prepare you for a technology-based career in Engineering, Manufacturing, Technical Services and other industries or sectors with a high reliance on modern technology.
Modules include:
- Communications for Engineering Technicians
- Mathematics for Technicians
- Applications of Mechanical System in Engineering
- Computer Aided Drafting in Engineering
- Electro Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems and Devices
- Applications of Computer Numeric Control in Engineering
- Engineering Project
You will also complete modules from the PEO (Performing Engineering Operations) suitable to the modules being studied above over both years. Throughout the course, you will also develop a number of essential skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed in a variety of ways, which could include assignments, external examinations, case studies and continual class assessment.
Entry requirements
5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Mathematics (grade B or above) English and Science.
Continue your studies
After completion of this year, you will have completed the full Diploma in Engineering. If you have gained employment as an apprentice, you can transfer onto the part-time apprenticeship route.
Following from the full Diploma, you can apply for a number of Higher Education courses including Foundation Degrees, HNCs and BSc (Hons) or progress into a career in the High Technology Sector.
