This course is suitable for those who wish to develop their skills and knowledge to progress their career within a range of engineering sectors including aviation, defence, medical engineering, engineering management, manufacturing, and the automotive industry.

This course has been developed alongside industry professionals, which ensures that you will gain the understanding and experience that employers are looking for. You will also gain transferable skills in communication, problem-solving and team work, which will make you attractive to employers in other sectors.

  • Managing a professional engineering project
  • Mechanical principles
  • Fundamentals of thermodynamics and heat engines

Assessment is based on a mix of in-course assignments, written assessments and formal examinations.

  • Level 3 Diploma in a relevant subject area achieved with a Merit profile or equivalent
  • Mature applicants may be accepted if they have relevant experience or other appropriate qualifications

This course is ideal for those who wish to progress their career into Engineering Technician positions within a wide range of companies. You can also progress onto the HND Mechanical Engineering and some exceptional achievers may be able to progress to BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Wales.

Our state of the art STEAM Academy will be an exciting new building to accommodate teaching, learning and support facilities for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.

The Academy will be a flagship for showcasing 21st century teaching and learning, bringing economic and cultural growth to the Bridgend County Borough area.
