- Identify the basic anatomy of areas of massage
Know health and safety measures required for manicures
Outline:
- Reasons for good hygiene practices when providing manicures
- Possible contra-indications of manicures
- Possible contra-indications of massaging hands and arms
- Measures to deal with incidents resulting from manicures
Be able to prepare for manicure treatments
- Select tools, equipment and products for manicure treatments
- Prepare the work area for manicure treatments
- Carry out a client consultation
Be able to provide nail care during manicures
- Use the correct filing method during manicures
- Apply buffing cream using correct techniques
Be able to provide care for cuticles during manicures
- Apply appropriate products to cuticles during manicures
- Push back cuticles
Be able to carry out hand and arm massages
- Perform hand and arm massages
- Demonstrate full range of massage movements
Be able to apply nail enamel during manicures
Apply:
- Base coat
- Nail enamel
- Top coat
Be able to provide aftercare advice on nail and skin care
Provide advice to clients on:
- Nail/skin products and procedures
- Possible contra-actions following treatment
