About

Have you thought about working in software development or programming? Many computer jobs will experience fast growth, pay salaries well above the national average and offer lots of promotion opportunities.

Jobs such as mobile application developers, software engineers, video game designers and IT Security Specialists are sought after and in high demand.

Overview & Modules

You will study a range of subjects from technical and programming units including looking at software development practices, IT infrastructure management and how Information Technology is used in a business environment.

Year 1 modules (Level 3 Extended Certificate) may include:

  • Information technology systems
  • Creating systems to manage information
  • Using social media in business
  • Website development

Year 2 modules (Level 3 Diploma) may include:

  • Cyber security and incident management
  • IT project management
  • Programming
  • Computer games development

You will also study the Skills Challenge Certificate and develop a number of skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills throughout the course.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed in a variety of ways which could include assignments, external examinations, case studies and continual class assessment.

Entry requirements

  • 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, preferably including English and Maths. Equivalent qualifications are accepted

Continue your studies

After completion of the full Level 3 Diploma, you can apply for a number of higher education courses or go into employment within the industry.
