There are many opportunities in the horticultural industry as it’s one of the largest employers in the UK. A career in horticulture could mean anything from a hands-on gardener to a research scientist, and can open the door to careers all over the world.

Our courses will enable you to develop your gardening and landscaping skills, focusing on practical skills in realistic working environments. We have excellent tutors who are experts in the industry, passionate about plants and devoted to your education and development.

Horticulture careers can be rewarding and varied. When studying our full-time courses, you will visit many organisations to see first-hand what types of businesses might employ you in the future.

This course is an ideal introduction to practical horticulture skills and landscaping techniques.

Modules may include:

  • Plant and soil science
  • Work related experience
  • Principles of land-based machinery
  • Establish and maintain plants outdoors
  • Introduction to plant nomenclature and identification
  • Participate in providing estate maintenance
  • Maintain turf

You will also develop a number of skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills throughout the course.

Practical and written assessments.

3 GCSEs at grade D or above. Equivalent qualifications are accepted, including a Pass at Level 1.

On successful completion of the course, there is opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 course or into employment.
