1.48 million people currently work in the social care sector. As people are living longer and older people are needing more care, social care is growing and the sector needs at least another half a million jobs and staff by 2030.

Studying at Level 3, you will benefit from work placement which is a great opportunity to experience working within an existing organisation and see what happens in an actual workplace.

This course is designed to provide a highly specialist work-related qualification in the health and social care sector. You will gain the knowledge, understanding and skills which you need to prepare for employment or to progress to higher education.

Modules may include:

  • Personal and professional development (you will have the opportunity to attend at least 3 placements)
  • Equality, diversity and rights
  • Sociological and psychological perspectives
  • Dementia
  • Health, safety and security
  • Caring for children and young people
  • Complementary therapies

You will also develop a number of skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills throughout the course.

You will be assessed in a variety of ways which could include assignments, external examinations, case studies and continual class assessment.

  • 5 GCSEs at grade C or above to include English and Maths
  • Equivalent qualifications are accepted, including a Merit at Level 2

Possible employment opportunities include working with a variety of client groups in residential or day care settings.
