Failure Mode and Effects Analysis FMEA

This interactive practical course will provide delegates with a basic knowledge of the FMEA methodology, how to apply it to product and process design, and demonstrate how the results of the FMEA are used.

Overview & Modules

This interactive practical course will provide delegates with a basic knowledge of the FMEA methodology, how to apply it to product and process design, and demonstrate how the results of the FMEA are used to define the requirements for:

  • An effective product validation plan
  • An effective control plan for the manufacturing process

Learning objectives include:

  • Produce an FMEA
  • Fit an FMEA into the overall production process design
  • Communicate why the FMEA should be regularly updated
  • The business need for the process FMEA
  • FMEA methodology defining customers’ expectations and requirements. potential failure modes, consequence of failure and methods of detection and prevention
  • Risk Priority Number (RPN)
  • Evaluating the “risk” using the RPN and prioritising areas of improvement
  • Implementing corrective actions in process design

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is by portfolio of work.

Entry requirements

Previous completion of Agored Cymru Level 1 and 2 Watercolours or evidence of artwork to a suitable standard.
