Level 2 Technical Certificate
1 year full-time
We have excellent facilities to help you further your studies in the area of horse care, with an emphasis on hands on training to help you really get the full experience. Our facilities include stabling for 30 horses, indoor and outdoor arenas and a cross-country course.
Studying at Level 2, you will benefit from work placement which is a great opportunity to experience working within an existing organisation and see what happens in an actual workplace.
Overview and modules
This is a great course if you would like to work in the equine industry and further your education journey.
With both a ‘ride’ option and a ‘non-ride’ alternative, the course caters for all elements of stable management skills. Weekend duties and one day per week working on the stable yards is an integral part of this course.

Assessment methods
You will be assessed in a variety of ways which will include assignments, controlled assessments and exams.
Entry requirements
Please note – In the interest of the welfare of our horses, applicants should be aware that our horses can carry a maximum weight of 90kg. All applicants can study a ride or non-ride option on all of our courses and therefore will not be denied a place on an equine course.
Continue your studies
This course will enable you to start a career in the equine industry, move onto an apprenticeship or further your studies by taking other qualifications at level 3.

This campus is home to an extensive range of subject areas: Land-based, Construction, Sport and Public Services along with our brand new state-of-the-art STEAM Academy for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths.
The campus has great facilities such as a 3G sports pitch, modern equine areas, sports hall and conditioning gym. Located on the outskirts of the village of Pencoed, this campus also offers local amenities and transport links within easy reach.
