This qualification is achieved through a mix of learning in the workplace, formal off the job training (at college) and the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work context. On completion, you must be able to undertake the full range of duties, appropriate to your job, confidently and competently to the standard set by the Industry.
Overview and modules
This Apprenticeship framework is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to carry out your job role and support future progression within the sector. You will be employed and receive at least the minimum apprenticeship wage, attend college on a day release or full-time basis and should achieve the Level 3 Apprenticeship Framework within the agreed timescale.
Qualifications:
- Level 3 NVQ in the suitable pathway
- Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma (minimum)
- Performing Engineering Operations Level 2 (if not already achieved/exempt)
- Level 2 Application of Number Essential Skills
- Level 2 Communication Essential Skills
- Level 2 Digital Literacy Essential Skills
Note, if you can provide certificates as evidence of your GCSE Maths and English, showing you have achieved Grade C or above, then you will be exempt from undertaking the Essential Skills Communication and Application of Number listed above.
Job roles suitable for this qualification are:
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Installation and Commissioning Engineering
These programmes are part financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.
Assessment methods
Assessment will be made through coursework, tests, assignments, work-based observations and work-based evidence.
Entry requirements
Applicants would be GCSE standard (A* – C) and be in employment which supports the requirements of the qualification. Note, it would be beneficial if you have achieved a GCSE Grade B in Maths.
Note, you can only undertake this apprenticeship if you have been employed in your current job role for less than 12 months at time of enrolment if you are aged over 25. If you are under 25, this criteria does not apply to you.
Continue your studies
For apprentices who successfully complete the Level 3 Apprenticeship, there are opportunities to progress into occupational work supervision, management or technical support areas.
