Electrical Installation EAL Level 3 Diploma

You will study at our state-of-the art STEAM Academy at Pencoed Campus.

  • 33 weeks, Monday & Wednesday 6 - 9 pm

This course is intended as a Technical Level qualification and is suitable for those who are interested in progressing within electrical installation and/or are considering a career change.

This qualification builds on the Level 2 Diploma by providing more advanced knowledge and the related practical skills needed to pursue a career in this occupational area.

This qualification is made up of six core mandatory units and two optional units (from which you must select one).

The mandatory units include:

  • Electrical installation design
  • Environmental technology systems
  • Electrical science and principles
  • Electrical installation craft
  • Inspection, testing, commissioning
  • Diagnosing and correcting electrical faults.

The optional units include:

  • Overseeing and organising the work environment
  • Requirements of BS 7671

Assessment includes externally set and marked examinations, Centre marked assignments/practical tests and a final cross-unit synoptic assessment.

Electrical Installation Level 2 Diploma

The EAL Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Electrical Installation will not automatically qualify you to work as an electrician. However, it does offer a stepping stone into employment by providing you with the opportunity to progress to one of the following electrotechnical apprenticeships and/or industry-recognised qualifications at level 3:

  • EAL Level 3 Certificate in Installing, Testing and Ensuring Compliance of Electrical Installations in Dwellings
  • EAL Level 3 Award in the Initial verification and Certification of Electrical Installation
  • EAL Level 3 Award in the Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (QCF)
  • EAL Level 3 Award In the In-Service Inspections and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT)
  • EAL Qualifications in 18th Edition
  • Requirements for electrical installations BS 7671
  • EAL qualifications in Environmental Technology Systems

You may wish to progress to further study at Level 4 (higher education) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
