The overall aim of the HNC is to prepare you for practise in the field of electrical and electronic engineering by developing your knowledge, skills and ability to perform technical duties, as directed, in posts demanding a sound knowledge of well understood electrical and electronic engineering systems. Additionally, it will provide you with a sound basis for continuing education.

The course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of the well established principles of electrical engineering and the ways in which those principles have developed.

Modules may include:

  • Engineering mathematics
  • Electrical technology
  • Programmable logic controllers
  • Control and instrumentation
  • Electronics 1

Assessment is based on a mix of in-course assignments, written assignments and formal examinations, as well as preparing and delivering presentations to develop communication skills.

  • 120-160 UCAS tariff points, OR
  • BTEC National Certificate with PP grades, OR
  • BTEC National Diploma with PPP grades
  • GCSE Mathematics and English Language at grade C or above

Progression onto the HND Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
