This course will take your training skills a step further, with a large practical element.

Overview & Modules
Day 1 will begin with the basics of how dogs learn, reinforcement and punishment (different types), reinforcement schedules, different training methods as well as different techniques for different dogs.
You will be able to differentiate between positive reinforcement for dogs (R+), negative reinforcement for dogs (R-), positive punishment for dogs (P+) and negative punishment for dogs (P-).
You will develop and implement a plan to train a skill through targeting techniques
Day 2 will cover a lot of practical work and basic training, along with developing and implementing training plans.
A discussion will take place during the first session to establish how many dogs are required for the practical sessions . Note, not everyone will be required to bring a dog along to the practical session.
How will I be assessed?
Through practical assessment and portfolio work.
Entry requirements
Level 2 Dog Training Skills or at least 6 months of regularly working with dogs.
Continue your studies

- Canine first aid
- Canine health and welfare
- Dog grooming
