This course has been designed for those with a strong interest in the management and conservation of native wildlife. You will study a range of units, gaining a combination of practical skills and knowledge to further your career in the industry or continue to higher education.
Overview and modules
There is a strong emphasis on practical training and applied knowledge throughout the course which is delivered via lectures, practical sessions, field trips, guest speakers and visits.
Modules include:
- Investigative project
- Ecological surveys
- Practical conservation skills
- Woodland habitat management
- Coastal management
- Grassland habitat management
- Environmental interpretation
- Farm habitat management
You will also develop a number of skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills throughout the course.
Assessment methods
You will be assessed in a variety of ways which could include scenario based assignments, practical assessments, case studies, presentations and continual class assessment.
Entry requirements
5 GCSEs at grade C or above, preferably including English and Maths. Equivalent qualifications are accepted including a Merit at Level 2.
Continue your studies
Successful completion will enable you to achieve the Level 3 90 Credit Diploma which can be used as a stepping stone to higher education courses.
This is an industry recognised qualification designed to provide the knowledge and practical experience to enhance employability in the sector.
