Aims of the course
Use polite social conventions and simple structures appropriate to the context
- Combine and use simple structures and commonly used expressions
- Demonstrate a range of appropriate courtesies using formal and informal language, eg address, greet and take leave, give compliments, apologise
- Express difficulty and request appropriate action, for example, repeating or slowing down
- Use appropriate pronunciation
Understand and give simple personal information
- Introduce self to another person
- Outline details of home, work, family or friends in three to four simple sentences
- Ask for information from others, related to at least three aspects of personal or professional life
- Identify at least three pieces of personal or professional information about others
Give simple information related to food and drink
- Request a table for a given number
- Ask a simple question related to a menu
- Express basic likes and dislikes related to food/drink
- Ask for at least three simple items of food / drink from a menu
- Finalise payment
Understand and give simple information related to shopping
- Ask a general question
- Ask for at least two specific items, giving at least one detail, eg, colour, size, quantity
- Ask at least one question about an item
- Identify at least two details describing basic items
- Give at least one opinion about an item
- Conclude a transaction
Assessment
There will be oral question and answer, along with role play/simulation.
