The qualification is achieved through a mix of learning in the workplace, formal off the job training (at college) and the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work context. On completion, you must be able to undertake the full range of duties, appropriate to your job, confidently and competently to the standard set by the Industry.

Overview & Modules
This Apprenticeship framework is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to carry out your job role and support future progression within the sector. You will be employed and receive at least the minimum apprenticeship wage, attend college on a block release basis (8 blocks per year; five days a week) and should achieve the Level 3 Apprenticeship Framework within the agreed timescale.
Qualifications:
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Construction Plant or Machinery Maintenance
- Level 3 Diploma in Construction Plant or Machinery Maintenance
- Essential Skills Wales Communication Level 2 or GCSE English Grade C or above
- Essential Skills Wales Application of Number Level 2 or GCSE Maths Grade C or above
The job role for the Advanced Apprenticeship is Plant Mechanic and duties will include: working on a construction site or in a workshop carrying out maintenance and repairs to excavators, cranes, trucks and other machinery associated with plant to given specifications, and specialising in hydraulics and electrical components.
These programmes are part financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be made through coursework, tests, assignments, work-based observations and work-based evidence.

Continue your studies
After successfully complete the Level 3 Apprenticeship, there are opportunities to progress into occupational work supervision, management or technical support areas.
