Our courses will help you gain the necessary skills and knowledge to develop a trade pathway such as brickwork, carpentry, plumbing or painting and decorating. You will develop an appreciation of how all the skills areas work together to build efficient and safe buildings.

This Level 1 course has been designed to introduce you to the construction industry and the trade areas of Carpentry & Joinery and Painting & Decorating, preparing you to take further qualifications.

This course will provide a foundation of learning within the areas of general construction, carpentry & joinery and painting & decorating, and help you decide the area of the industry you would like to work in.

You will gain first level skills in the trade areas of and carpentry & joinery and painting & decorating and learn about health and safety in construction trades.

Assessment will include practical assignments, written assignments and multiple choice unit end tests.

There are no formal entry requirements. However, you must be enthusiastic and motivated to learn.

This qualification will prepare you to progress to study the Foundation in Construction and Building Services Engineering Qualification (Level 2).
