This vocational course will prepare you for a career in today’s rapidly changing business environment. You will look at how organisations function and grow in a competitive market, and develop skills for personal and professional development such as research and analysis, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork and project management. You will apply what you learn in the classroom to real-life business scenarios, so you’ll graduate from this course ready to take the next step to a successful career in business.
Overview and modules
You will attend lectures, workshops, seminars and tutorials plus undertake independent study.
Year 1 modules include:
- Entrepreneurship and business start-up
- Economics, law and regulation
- Management of financial information
- Academic and professional development
- HRM: organisational behaviour
- Foundations in marketing
Year 2 modules include:
- Strategic business analysis
- Enterprise management
- Live project
Assessment methods
A mixture of individual and group assessment methods are used including essays and reports, presentations, the completion of a portfolio of evidence and examinations.
Entry requirements
- 2 A levels at grade D OR
- BTEC Diploma at Merit Merit OR
- A pass in an Access to HE Diploma with 60 credits overall to include 45 Level 3 credits (all Passes)
- Plus 3 GCSEs at grade C or above, to include Maths and English (or other equivalent qualifications)
Mature applicants lacking formal entry requirements but with relevant and/or industrial experience will also be considered.
You may be invited to attend an interview.
Continue your studies
On successful completion, graduates have the opportunity to progress on to the BA (Hons) Degree in Business Studies (Top-up) at the University of South Wales.
Alternatively, the qualification can be used to gain entry to an organisation’s management training programme or onto a number of professional qualifications.
