Currently small businesses are the engine of the Welsh economy with over half of the jobs in Wales coming from business start-ups with less than ten people. Our full range of business courses will give you the skills and knowledge you need to build a career in business and be a part of this.
This course will enable you to develop an understanding of the business world with topics such as finance, management, marketing and international business.
Overview and modules
Modules include:
- Exploring business
- Personal and business finance
- Developing a marketing campaign
- Managing an event
- Principles of management
- Work experience
- Recruitment and selection
Alongside this course, you will also study the Skills Challenge Certificate which is equivalent to an A level. You will also develop a number of essential skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills throughout the course.
This course is a recognised qualification by CMI, meaning you are eligible for Foundation Chartered Manager (fCMgr) status.
Assessment methods
You will be assessed in a variety of ways including course work, controlled assessment and one external examination.
Entry requirements
5 GCSEs at grade C or above, preferably including English and Maths. Equivalent qualifications are accepted including a Merit at Level 2.
Continue your studies
Upon successful completion of the first year, you will achieve a BTEC Extended Certificate. You will achieve the BTEC Diploma after successfully completing the second year.
After this course, students have progressed to a variety of higher education (HE) courses such as HND, Foundation Degree and BA (Hons). Others have entered the workplace with full-time employment and apprenticeships.
