Currently small businesses are the engine of the Welsh economy with over half of the jobs in Wales coming from business start-ups with less than ten people. Our full range of business courses will give you the skills and knowledge you need to build a career in business and be a part of this.

If you are interested in a career within the business and business administration sector, this course will enable you to develop the skills and knowledge to progress into or within employment or continue your study in the vocational area.

The Level 1 Introductory Diploma includes theory and practical sessions in the following areas:

  • Being organised
  • Developing a personal progression plan
  • Working with others
  • Researching a topic
  • Finding out about businesses in your area
  • Organising a meeting
  • Creating a visual display
  • Contributing to running an event
  • Recording income and expenditure
  • Communicating with customers

In addition to your Diploma, you will also complete a range of additional qualifications including:

  • Professional Skills – developing literacy and numeracy skills
  • Opportunities to develop your Welsh language and learn about Welsh culture

The awarding body for this qualification is Pearson BTEC.

All assessments will take the form of one of the following and will be graded at a Pass, Merit or Distinction level:

  • Assignments
  • Case studies
  • Projects / portfolios
  • Demonstration of practical skills

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

On completion of this qualification, you may consider progressing to other vocational subjects or to the Level 2 Business qualification.

Alternatively, successful learners may seek employment in a variety of sectors related to business administration.
