Beauty therapy – Skin care

Aims of the course

Be able to identify tools, equipment and products used in skin care

  • Prepare a trolley in readiness for beauty treatments
  • Prepare the beauty chair for treatment
  • Select the appropriate equipment and materials for specific treatments to be undertaken

Be able to prepare the client for skin care treatments

  • Select headband and towels / gowns necessary to cover the client’s clothing for facial application

Know about basic skin types

  • Identify characteristics of the basic skin types

Be able to select skin care products

  • Select the most suitable products for use on each skin type

Be able to use demonstrate basic skin care routine

  • Apply cleanser, toner and moisturiser using appropriate movements in the correct sequence
  • Select the appropriate mask / scrub for the skin type
  • Demonstrate the correct application and removal

Be able to give advice on skin care

  • Advise clients on skin care products and procedures with regard to cleansing and protecting the skin

Be able to maintain the work area

  • Return and replace all materials and equipment to stock area in good condition
  • Place all used towels in the laundry bins
  • Dispose of rubbish hygienically
  • Sterilise all equipment

Assessment

Ongoing assessment with evidence of achieving the aims of the course.
