Our full-time courses enable you to gain hands-on practical skills and underpinning knowledge within our on-site salons. We have highly qualified and specialised lecturers who are active practitioners within their field of expertise.

This course is run over 3 days a week with one late commercial evening session.

Examples of what you may learn include:

  • Advise and consult with clients
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
  • Cut men’s hair using basic techniques
  • Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques
  • Dry and finish men’s hair
  • Create basic outlines and detailing in hair
  • Colour men’s hair

You will also develop your literacy, numeracy, ICT and presentation skills.

The awarding body for this qualification is VTCT.

You will be assessed in a variety of ways including assignments, on-line global examinations and continual practical assessments.

  • 4 GCSEs at grade D and above. Equivalent qualifications are accepted, including Level 1 Barbering
  • You will be required to purchase a training kit, training blocks and a uniform

Note, this course is aimed at students aged 16+.

Progress to employment as a barber within the industry and / or develop your skills with Level 3 Barbering.
