This course provides a comprehensive coverage of the fundamental principles underlying agricultural production systems. It provides a practical and scientific knowledge base to underpin a career in the agricultural or related industries.

The facilities provide an extensive range of industry standard equipment, resources and livestock developed with employers to meet the exacting demands of modern agricultural standards and processes.
Bridgend College has an array of on-site resources to deliver this course, including 110 acres of pasture land. Agreements have also been procured with 3 local farms to ensure constant access to a variety of livestock and farming systems, and the college is situated in the heart of some of the most productive agricultural ground in South Wales.
Assessment methods
You will be assessed through a variety of methods such as practical portfolios, exams, assignments, presentations, reports and case studies.
Entry requirements
- 48 UCAS points (2017 tariff) [2 D’s at A level]
Mature applicants lacking formal entry requirements but with relevant and/or industrial experience will also be considered.
Continue your studies
On successful completion of the HNC, you can top up your qualification by progressing to the HND. Further progression to degree level studies or gain employment in the sector in a number of disciplines, such as herdsman, farm manager, agronomist, consultant, retail, nutritionist, sales, insurance and training.
You will also have a suite of practical Lantra and NPTC awards which improve employability available to you whilst at college.

This campus is home to an extensive range of subject areas: Land-based, Construction, Sport and Public Services along with our brand new state-of-the-art STEAM Academy for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths.
The campus has great facilities such as a 3G sports pitch, modern equine areas, sports hall and conditioning gym. Located on the outskirts of the village of Pencoed, this campus also offers local amenities and transport links within easy reach.
