Health & Social Care (Adults) – Foundation Apprenticeship

About

The qualification is relevant to those supporting adults in roles such as healthcare assistants, support workers in primary care environment, domiciliary care workers and care assistants.

12 – 15 months

Level 2 – Foundation Apprenticeship

Overview & Modules

This Framework is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to carry out your job role and support future progression within the sector. You will be employed, receive at least the minimum apprenticeship wage and achieve the Level 2 Apprenticeship Framework within the agreed timescale.

This qualification is achieved through regular observations and assessment in the workplace along with underpinning knowledge of the units.

  • Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Adults)
  • Essential Skills Wales Application of Number Level 1
  • Essential Skills Wales Communication Level 2
  • Essential Skills Wales Digital Literacy Level 1
  • Foundation Apprenticeship in Health & Social Care
These programmes are part financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be made through work-based observations and assessment of underpinning knowledge and work-based evidence.

Entry requirements

You must be working with adults in the health and social care sector, and must be 24 and under.

You must be contracted to work a minimum of 16 hours per week with your employer and must have passed your probationary period of employment.

You need to have a minimum of 6 months experience of working in a care environment to have enough experience to complete this course. This course is applicable for those working within health and social care as care assistants, support workers, carers working in the community and nursing auxiliaries.

Continue your studies

Apprentices successfully completing the Level 2 Foundation Apprenticeship can progress onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship.
