Small businesses are the engine of the Welsh economy with over half of the jobs in Wales coming from business start-ups with less than ten people. Our courses give you the skills and knowledge you need to build a career in business and be a part of this.

Within this course, in addition to completing the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting, you will also complete the Xero Certification.

Units for the Foundation Certificate in Accounting include:

  • Introduction to Bookkeeping
  • Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
  • Principles of Costing
  • The Business Environment

You will also develop a number of skills including numeracy, literacy and digital skills throughout the course.

Additional costs: you will need to buy tutorial books (approx. £50 in total).

The awarding body for this qualification is AAT.

Assessment is via:

  • Worksheets and question sheets
  • Oral questioning
  • Case studies
  • Practical assessments
  • Online examinations (formal AAT examinations)

In order to gain the qualification, you must pass with 70%+ in all 4 exams. The other methods of assessment are during sessions and do not contribute to the final grade.

  • 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths

After successfully completing the Level 2 Foundation Certificate, you can progress to the AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting which we offer on a part-time basis.
