This course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to carry out your job role and support future progression within the Accountancy sector. It covers the basics of bookkeeping transactions, double-entry bookkeeping, the use of books of prime entry and producing a trial balance. You will be employed and receive at least the minimum apprenticeship wage. You will attend college on a day release basis and should achieve the Level two Apprenticeship Framework within the agreed timescale. This course is part financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government. Note: You must be employed for less than 6 months in your current job role on the day of enrolment to be eligible for this programme.
Overview and modules
This course is achieved through a mix of learning in the workplace, formal off the job training at college and the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work context. On completion, you will be able to undertake the full range of duties, appropriate to your job, confidently and competently to the standard set by the industry.
Modules include:
- Introduction to bookkeeping transactions
- Principles of bookkeeping controls
- Principles of costing
- Business environment
- Additional module – Xero Certification
Assessment methods
Assessment will be made through external examinations set by the AAT. There are four end of module exams and you must achieve 70% to pass each examination. You need to pass all four examinations to achieve the full qualification.
Entry requirements
There are no specific academic entry requirements for the Level 2 Foundation Apprenticeship, but you must be in employment which supports the requirements of the qualification. (Note you only undertake this apprenticeship if you have been employed in your current job role for less than 6 months).
Continue your studies
Progression to the AAT Level 3 course.
