This course is suitable for those who have previously completed the Foundation Certificate and wish to develop their skill set. It will also suit those who wish to pursue full AAT membership and would like a formal recognition of their skills.

This course provides more complex financial skills, including preparing final accounts for sole traders and partnerships, VAT returns, management accounts and professional ethics.

Modules include:

  • Business Awareness
  • Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements
  • Management Accounting Techniques
  • Tax Processes for Business

Course related fees – Students will need to buy tutorial books (approx. £50 in total).

This course includes internal and external assessments. Students must get 70%+ in all 4 exams. Other methods of assessment are during sessions and do not contribute to the final grade.

  • AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting OR
  • Other accountancy qualification eg ACCA Foundation FA1 and MA1
  • Suitable work experience – able to prepare trial balance and correct errors within the trial balance from a suspense account
  • Basic knowledge including: understanding of debits and credits and T accounts, understanding of how sales / purchase ledger and sales / purchase ledger control accounts work

Students are expected to demonstrate a professional attitude to study, as well as a strong commitment to passing all assessments to gain the qualification.

Progress to Level 4 AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting.

There are many employment opportunities for those achieving the Advanced Diploma in Accounting including Accounts Assistant, Accounts Payable and Expenses Supervisor, Audit Trainee, Credit Controller, Payroll Administrator, Practice Bookkeeper and Tax Assistant.
