Times 100 Best Companies List – we did it!
We are thrilled to announce that we have achieved a fantastic 24th place in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Not For Profit Organisations to Work for 2020 – the highest ranked educational establishment in the category listing!
This is a positive jump from 28th position in 2017, proving that we at Bridgend College have made significant improvements to workplace engagement and that we really are striving to be all that we can be.
We’re delighted to have also achieved 2 star ‘outstanding’ status from Best Companies, the specialists whose recognition programme is the standard for workplace engagement, and are so proud of our staff and governors who make Bridgend College such an outstanding place to work. A 2 Star accreditation is the second-highest standard of workplace engagement and represents organisations striving for the top.
Bridgend College was awarded this accreditation for its Best Companies Index score from the Best Companies ‘b Heard’ survey, which measures how engaged people are at work and how they feel about their employer. Director of People at the College, Samantha Morgan, reflected on the result and said;
“It is great to see that we have further improved our overall score on the index and that once again we have been commended for our excellent levels of colleague engagement. It is clear from the feedback that our colleagues feel a great sense of pride working for Bridgend College and are committed to a common purpose.”
Results from the ‘b Heard’ survey at the College showed that 93% of staff agreed that they can make a valuable contribution to the success of the organisation. 87% also agreed that people in their team go out of their way to help one another.
The College holds five professional development days each year, which are themed across various strands of its strategic plan. On these days, staff come together to learn, share and reflect on practice. This encourages new employee connections to form and supports a more holistic understanding of how all staff support the common vision of supporting employees and students to be all that they can be. This multifaceted approach includes digital skills development, unlimited access to e learning platforms and coaching and mentoring.
In addition, the College holds a ‘back to industry’ day for employees to discuss innovative working practices in other organisations and reflect together on what could be adopted or improved in their own department or across the wider organisation. These events are evaluated and feedback is used to improve the approach to working practices.
CEO and Founder of Best Companies, John Austin, said:
“I would like to congratulate Bridgend College on your achievement. Best Companies have been producing the accreditation standard since 2006 to acknowledge excellence in the workplace. Organisations like Bridgend College have continued to focus on their employees and have been rewarded with an engaged workforce who tell us that this is a best company to work for.”
A huge thank you to everyone at the College who has worked so hard in making this achievement happen!
